King holds talks with Oman sultan in Muscat

His Majesty King Abdullah and Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman on Tuesday reaffirmed pride in the strength of the deep-rooted ties between the two countries and peoples, expressing keenness to bolster bilateral relations across all fields.
 
At expanded talks held at Al Alam Palace in Muscat, the two leaders agreed to advance economic cooperation between the two countries, especially in trade, investment, and industry.
 
During the meeting, attended by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the two leaders stressed the need to step up trade exchange between the two countries and called for the Oman-Jordan Joint Committee to reconvene after the Royal visit.
 
Discussions also focused on the importance of bolstering cooperation between the private sectors in the two countries, and maintaining coordination and consultation on various issues of mutual concern, especially on food security and energy.
 
King Abdullah expressed appreciation for Oman’s position and continuous efforts to bolster security and stability in the region.
 
The meeting, attended by a number of senior officials on both sides, covered recent regional and international developments.
 
His Majesty emphasised the centrality of the Palestinian cause, the importance of supporting the Palestinians as they seek their just and legitimate rights, and the need to achieve just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.
 
Discussions also touched on the importance of reaching political solutions to regional crises, in order to restore security and stability to the region and its peoples.
 
For his part, Sultan Haitham welcomed His Majesty and the accompanying delegation to Oman, highlighting the deep-rooted ties between the two countries and peoples.
 
Earlier, His Majesty was accorded an official welcoming ceremony upon arrival at Al Alam Palace.
