His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Regent, on Tuesday chaired a regular meeting of the National Council for Future Technology, during which he emphasised the importance of integrating more hospitals and health centres into the Jordan Digital Health Centre network.

During the meeting, attended by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, who is chairman of the council, the Crown Prince underscored the importance of continuing to leverage technological and technical capabilities to improve health services, thereby helping to provide citizens with the best possible services.

Minister of Health Ibrahim Bdour highlighted the services provided by the Jordan Digital Health Centre since its opening a year ago, and its progress in delivering remote care through telemedicine services that help alleviate the burden on patients, improving healthcare services, and boosting government hospital savings through smart resource management of medical supplies and hospital beds.

Highlighting the centre’s advanced connectivity, Bdour said the centre houses a dialysis unit and intensive care unit, both of which are linked to 12 hospitals, alongside the centre’s digital radiology unit linked to 19 hospitals, and the telemedicine unit linked to three healthcare centres.

The minister added that the centre has delivered more than 45,000 teleradiology reports, monitored over 55,000 dialysis sessions, supervised more than 2,000 cases in intensive care units, and extended hundreds of specialist consultations to affiliated hospitals and healthcare centres.

His Royal Highness issued directives to develop action plans to boost the digital economy and strengthen Jordan’s position as an incubator for start-ups in the digital and technological sectors.

The meeting also reviewed updates on the National Council for Future Technology’s ongoing projects and future plans across various fields, particularly those relating to education.
