16 March 2026
His Majesty King Abdullah II and United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Monday discussed regional developments and means to de-escalate the tensions.
The two leaders, during a meeting in the UAE, condemned attacks on Jordan and the UAE, and infringements on their sovereignty, reiterating that Arab countries have not been part of the ongoing war and did not start it, but worked to contain the crisis and prevent drawing the region into conflict.
His Majesty noted that Jordan continues to take all the necessary measures to ensure the protection of its citizens and maintain its security and stability.
The two leaders called for stepping up joint Arab action and coordination with active partners to reach comprehensive and sustainable calm that restores stability to the region, stressing the need to utilise dialogue and diplomacy to end the conflict.
His Majesty warned of the danger of the current developments being exploited to restrict worshippers’ access to Al Aqsa Mosque and create new facts on the ground in the West Bank and Gaza.
Sheikh Mohamed hosted an iftar in honour of His Majesty.
