Mawa Palace

The name ‘Mawa’ signifies generosity and care. Sharing the same hill as Raghadan, it was built in the 1970s, which makes it one of the most recently built palaces. It was briefly used as a residence, but later provided offices for various Royal Family members.

In the early 1980s, Arab ornamentation and designs were introduced to the windows and doors, employing patterns from Oriental heritage, in addition to colourful mosaics. The Palace’s courtyard includes a small, open-air, 15 x 5 metre prayer area, enclosed by an old stone wall. The area’s floor and mihrab are also decorated with colourful, beautiful mosaics.
